Nuts about Easter!

 April 15, 2022

I know you are craving some good trash tableaux, but fortunately for me, I keep running into treasures (good thing for me I named this blog trash AND treasure). This little treasure is an age old tradition in Western Pennsylvania. It is Easter Bunny Lane at Kraynak's in Sharon, PA. Twice a year, they turn part of the store into a lane of decorated trees and displays (the other time of year is, of course, Christmas).
I can remember visiting this lane as a child. Of course, my child's eye remembers the line being long, and the lane being even longer, but it is still a great time even now as an adult (and child free)!

I have a love-hate relationship with squirrels (just ask my family-it is a little squirrely), so my husband decided we should look for squirrels in the display. How he knew there would be a lot, I have no idea (he is just like that sometimes). So, our focus was kind of finding the squirrels which happened to be in almost every display (a lot like Where' Waldo).

My mom had been here a few weeks ago and sent me a picture of a display that was just for me. I have to agree... it had Care Bears, Smurfs, and Minions. It had everything I liked as a child and a few I have adopted in my adult years.

My husband also loves the Bee Movie, so there was one for him as well.

There was a very cute Noah's Ark display. Of course, Noah had to take some squirrels along (it was two of every animal after all), but they were more difficult to find in this display among all the animals. My favorite was this little bear in the tree.

Since we could greatly relate to the displays, I would say it is a little dated because it featured a lot of characters and themes that were popular "back in the day", but still worth the 15 minutes (total) we spent waiting in line and walking through.

We decided that I was the inspiration for the first display since my retirement dream is to run a food truck and the figure has a striking resemblance to me, especially the hair (my observation - my husband was too respectful to point it out but ultimately agreed):

I did miss the live Easter Bunny who used to be at the end of the lane, but thus is the time of COVID. The absent bunny not withstanding... well worth the time if you are in the Sharon area. Just beware this store is very full of toys (actually some toys you won't find anywhere else), so if you are going with kiddos, it is best to lay the ground rules ahead of time. We did witness a lot of sad faces and tears as we browsed, so just some insight to avoid a scene that isn't in Easter Bunny Lane.
