Every soul can use a good washin'!

Welcome to the inaugural GET (Gather - Envision - Take-away) Adventure for Trash and Treasure Tableau. Unfortunately, visiting the laundromat has been a frequent occurrence for me for the last 6 months due to moving out of one house and into another. On certain occasions, trash and treasure is left at the laundromat out of being too lazy to throw away a dryer sheet or out of haste due to wanting to end the trip quickly! Either way, a laundromat is a great place to GET up, take a look around, and see what is laying around to be discovered!

On this particular day (a Sunday afternoon without many people which is odd), it was raining outside; therefore, the hunt was limited to the inside of the building and just outside under the awning. This laundromat is very clean, so I was limited on the amount of trash to be found laying around.

To the left is the art I created from what I found on this day. Some was trash such as the laundry detergent scooper (which was ours), a Pringles' lid, a washcloth, some leaves, and the Bible left for those who want to enlighten themselves as they wait for the end of the spin cycle!

This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip! "Push to Lock" seems like such an easy concept (much like the warning on a coffee cup "Contents is Hot"), yet, one of the most important notices at the laundromat. One time, a woman had a washcloth stuck ever so slightly in the door which prevented the door from locking completely which resulted in a waterfall followed by a small flood on the floor.

In an effort to find additional trash, we moved the garbage cans aside and took a gander behind the dryers. You would (of course) expect to find some lint, but to me, these were bordering on fire hazards. There are several cool pictures from the deep, dark, world of behind the dryers.

The outside area did have some more trash peaking through the fence and hanging out on a parking sign. That sign has had that mask hanging on it for at least the last 4 months! I guess it didn't get the notice that the CDC lifted mask requirements for all.

So the next time you're at the laundromat... look around and take the idea of finding trash and treasure for a spin...
